My first Manson fan art!
<3 Full-view please. ✧Get to know the real Manson ✧ (Find Part Two in the Series Here: [link]) "Society has traditionally always tried to find scapegoats for its problems. Well, here I am....." ❧ A controversial rock artist, Marilyn Manson is now a name that even your grandmother knows thanks to much media attention who blamed him for the Columbine tragedy. He has also been accused of removing ribs, worshipping the devil, eating small children, getting breast implants, and killing puppies on stage. In reality, Marilyn Manson is an intelligent man who has spoken out against drug/alcohol addiction, suicide, and murder. "When Columbine happened, it became a situation where a lot of emotions were involved. People needed a quick and simple answer for why their kids would do something like this. It was something they couldn't believe happened and they couldn't understand. They didn't realise that they raised these kids and that was ultimately their responsibility and ultimately, it was the kids' responsibility. I feel sorry for everyone involved, not just the victims, but the people who did it as well, and that America is a breeding ground for this type of behaviour, because they raise kids that feel like they are dead already. In other situations, they raise kids to feel that, if you're not old enough to be a consumer or you're not of voting age, in some ways, your opinion doesn't matter. In some ways, you're treated as if you don't even have a soul. So it comes as no surprise whatsoever that something like that would happen. For it to be blamed on entertainment is absurd to me. First, because I think that people like myself are writing music for people like that as an escape, to make them feel like 'You're not alone, I grew up feeling the same thing.' In some cases, that's probably the only thing that gets a lot of kids through their teenage years. When I was a kid, music was the only thing I had to hide with, if you don't like the world around you. For me, I hid in books and I hid in music, and that was what made me feel better about myself." Manson also states that the only way kids will have a chance in this world is by parenting. "When kids dress a certain way, or commit suicide, there is something big enough, like their peers not listening, that makes them do something on that level. When people aren't paying attention to what you're trying to say, it's smothering." Marilyn Manson is considered to be a negative influence on the minds of teenagers because they 'don't understand the message that is really trying to be conveyed.' "This band is actually very positive -our music is about taking the lyrics and feeling alive, making everyday worth it; we just write about negative things that no one else is speaking out about. I speak in reality. I dont try to hide anything from anybody, and thats the most dangerous thing about our music that people are so afraid of." These are all wholesome points that Manson is making. So why aren't people listening? Perhaps it's the image; lipstick, blue contacts, leather... or maybe the seemingly obscene album or song titles; Antichrist Superstar, Eat Me Drink Me... "I name the albums something loud enough for people to listen to what we want them to hear. You will only benefit from our message if they look aside from the frankness of our album names. They must look inside the lyrics and the music to hear what we're trying to say. I do have a backward sense of optimism, but my point is always to try and better mankind. I'm not just a nihilist or some doomsayer- I'm saying these things because they're warnings, because I don't want humankind to die this way." |
